Windows Virtualization on PowerPC Mac

An IBM PowerPC 601 processor

A caller this morning wanted to know about running Windows on a PowerPC Mac.  As many of you know, the PowerPC is not an x86 chip, so an emulator must be used to run x86 operating systems such as Windows.

I’ve searched a bit and found a couple of applications.  One is Guest PC for $69.99, and another is a free, open source solution called Q.

The Apple support forums has a few threads of discussion on the topic as well.  They mention that Virtual PC also works.
