Timelope - Share Your Browsing With the World

I spend A LOT of time on the Internet. Sometimes I wander around freely, using StumbleUpon. Mostly though, I use Google Reader to read feeds from about 200 web sites I monitor. Tom's Shared Items are items that I have marked for sharing with others through Google Reader's Shared Items feed.

Well, if you want to see my ENTIRE browsing history, sign up for Timelope.

With Timelope, you can view my entire history and even share your browsing history with others. Just add me (tomkirkham) as a friend and see my complete browsing history. Even better, download the Firefox plugin for Timelope and share your browsing history with everyone.
Timelope is not even a "beta" site - its "alpha" so expect to see bugs and problems. I have notice a few already.

Mozy Home - Free Online Backup, Limited to 2GB

A listener pointed out that I never mention Mozy Home, which is a free online backup system for up to 2GB of storage.

I think Carbonite is better for home users, but we use Mozy at Kirkham Systems for business customers, so I don't have a problem with it, either.

If 2GB of storage is enough for your needs, go ahead and give it a try.  I use it for backing up personal finance files with no problem.

BCC, Please

When you are sending emails of, oh, I don't know, the latest lol cat picture from icanhascheezburger.com to multiple people, especially to those that may not know each other, you really should you BCC to protect everyone's privacy. bccplease.com is a site that tells you how to do it, and you can also send this site to those that do not BCC your address when they send out that "Obama is a radical muslim" email.

Safari Browser Security Issue

I've mentioned Apple's Safari browser on the show, and it seems to work fine except that there is a nasty security flaw in it that basically allows executable files to be downloaded invisibly, and combined with the Windows automatically opening files, this can create some real danger to your computer.
At this point, I am not sure who will provide the fix - Microsoft says they "might"; presumably, Apple is working hard on it.
I recommend not using Safari until either Microsoft or Apple addresses the problem.

Geek Toilet

I did not get a chance to discuss the difference between a geek and a nerd on yesterday's show, so here is geek toilet to hold you over until we can discuss it. Maybe this weeks show.

Run Command Listing

I frequently use the "Run" command that is located on the start menu (by default on Windows XP - you must enable it with Vista) to quickly launch apps such as calculator (calc) or the control Panel (control).  You can access it by going to the Start Menu and then clicking Run, but power users will want to use the WindowsKey + R.

Here is a list of commands for Windows XP

Here is one for Windows Vista.

Incidentally, to enable the Run command in Vista, just right-click on the Start button, click Properties, then click Customize. Scroll down the list until you see "Run command".  Check the box.
